Õý°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±Ö±²¥, King's College and Misericordia University Reciprocal Tuition Policy

Õý°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±Ö±²¥, King's College and Misericordia University Reciprocal Tuition Policy

Subject to limitations of the most current reciprocity agreement, undergraduate tuition benefits for programs that lead to a first Bachelor’s degree only at King’s College and Misericordia University are extended to all full-time active Õý°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±Ö±²¥ faculty and staff members in the Fall and Spring Semesters and to their spouses and dependents (as defined by FAFSA) in Fall, Spring and Summer semesters.

Employees are provided with 6 credit hours per semester and their spouses and/or dependents are provided full time tuition. King’s College’s full time tuition is 12 to 17 credits per semester. Misericordia University’s full time tuition is 12 to 17 credits per semester. Eligible employees who register for more than 6 credits per semester and/or eligible spouses/dependents who register for credits above the degree seeking institution’s credit load will be charged a per credit rate for each credit above the provision.

Eligible participants must meet admission requirements for the degree seeking institution’s specified program based on their academic performance. Nothing in this policy should be construed as an entitlement for acceptance into a specific program at the degree seeking institution. If eligible participants fail to meet academic performance and personal conduct standards, the degree seeking institution maintains the right to terminate benefits.

Effective April 12, 2017, the following programs of study are excluded from this benefit for employees, spouses and dependents:

Misericordia University

  • Pre-Doctorate of Physical Therapy
  • Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology
  • Master of Science in Occupational Therapy
  • Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies
  • RN to BSN

King’s College

  • Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training
  • 5 Year Bachelor to Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies
  • 2 Year Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies
  • 3+2 Engineering Co-op with the University of Notre Dame

This benefit is for tuition only. Fees, books, room, board and other charges are the responsibility of the full-time employee and/or eligible dependent. Benefits apply to Co-op Programs which are credit courses (excluding all King’s College co-op programs, except for joint co-op programs with Wilkes and/or Misericordia Universities) but no benefits are extended to students registered in non-credit courses. Benefits do not apply to study abroad programs and tuition credits.

Application Process:

  • Participants must file the FAFSA annually by the May 1st deadline. Eligible participants must also apply for all appropriate financial assistance from outside agencies. Since the tuition grant is limited as a supplement to other grants the individual is eligible to receive from all other sources, these funds are deducted from the tuition grant normally extended by the degree seeking institution.
  • Eligible participants must complete and submit all application forms to their Human Resources department in accordance with their institution's deadlines. HR will review to ensure applicant’s eligibility and, if approved, forward the information to the employee’s financial aid officer who notifies the degree seeking institution’s financial aid officer of the applicant’s eligibility for the benefit.
  • Dependent children using the tuition benefit must reapply and be approved by both institutions each semester the benefit will be applied. Employees and spouses using the tuition benefit must reapply and be approved by both institutions annually.
  • Eligible participants who intend to apply and attend the degree seeking institution must meet the admission requirements of such degree seeking institution and for the specified program of study by filing applications and related documents with the admissions department of the degree seeking institution well in advance of the opening of the semester for which they are applying.
  • Students are subject to federal academic progress requirements at the degree seeking institution.  The degree seeking institution has the right to terminate benefits if a student does not meet required standards.
  • Identification and authorization documents will be furnished by the appropriate financial aid officer of the degree seeking institution to eligible participants/students.  Such identification and authorization documents will be supplied annually for admission and retention of a student at the employee’s work institution; or supplied by semester for registration on a part-time basis at the employee’s work institution.

Generally full time matriculated students are provided with ten (10) semesters (summer semesters do not count towards this total) of eligibility for dependent benefits (assuming all other eligibility requirements are met and continue to be) for coursework that leads to a first Bachelor’s degree.

Grandfather Provision: Students currently enrolled and utilizing the tuition benefit at Misericordia University, King’s College or Õý°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±Ö±²¥ prior to April 12, 2017 will be considered to be grandfathered and subject to the provisions of the respective agreements between the participating schools.
