Marleen A. Troy, PhD, will look at examples of how the end-of-pipe technologies are transitioning to sustainable engineering and resilient design methodologies.

Marleen A. Troy, Professor of Environmental Engineering, will deliver the 正澳门六合彩开奖直播 2023 Paul A. O'Hop Final Word Lecture.

Her presentation, "Getting Rid of That Pipe: Transitioning to Sustainable Engineering and Resilient Design," will review the events that have occurred since the first Earth Day was recognized in 1970 and will look at examples of how the end-of-pipe technologies are transitioning to sustainable engineering and resilient design methodologies. Her lecture will address how sustainable engineering and resilient design are a better strategy for solving environmental problems and creating a responsible and sustainable future for all.

Troy has held a variety of faculty and academic positions in her 26 years at Wilkes. She teaches environmental engineering with an emphasis on waste management and environmental sustainability.

Prior to her teaching career, Troy served as a project engineer for OHM Remediation Services, as program manager and senior engineer for Groundwater and Environmental Services, Inc, both in New Jersey, and as senior environmental engineer at Dupont Environmental Remediation Services in Wilmington, Delaware. She earned her Ph.D. in civil engineering from Drexel University, where she also earned master鈥檚 degree in civil engineering and a bachelor鈥檚 degree in biological science. She also has a master鈥檚 degree in microbiology from the University of Rhode Island.

She is a registered Professional Engineer in Pennsylvania and is a board-certified environmental engineer in the specialty of environmental sustainability by the
American Academy of Environmental Engineers and Scientists庐 .

She is the current (2022-2023) president of the Pennsylvania Society of Professional Engineers. At Wilkes, she has been selected for outstanding faculty, advising, and teaching awards by committees of her peers.

About the Final Word Lecture

The annual Paul A. O'Hop Final Word Lecture was established by the late Paul O'Hop to foster the exchange of ideas and dialogue among faculty, staff and administrators and to showcase the talents and scholarly abilities at 正澳门六合彩开奖直播. O'Hop retired from Wilkes in 2001 after serving 16 years as vice president of business affairs and auxiliary enterprises.

Faculty honorees are selected via a competitive application process overseen by the Provost's Committee on Research.
