鈥淲ilkes encourages you to be diverse and that鈥檚 maddening and good and so rewarding.  I learn along with the students. It鈥檚 really easy to just go into class and lecture. But what is much more difficult--where students learn more--is active learning, to get students to open up. At 8:00 in the morning, sometimes they wake me 耻辫.鈥�

鈥淎bove all, Wilkes students are diligent and earnest. I鈥檝e taught at several other universities and this place is unique among them all. Students really want that communication in class. The students talk to each other and to their advisors about what they learn in class, and when I hear that, it does my heart good.鈥�

鈥淎 student from one of my ENG 101 courses wrote me from South Korea, where he鈥檚 working for the Security Department, and he says he鈥檚 using skills learned in our class together. I was shocked. We always say these writing courses will help in the larger world, but to have someone reflect that back to me is the high point of my teaching life.鈥�
