Undergraduate Institutional Student Learning Outcomes

(Approved by Faculty in 2007)

Undergraduate students will develop and demonstrate through course work, learning experiences, co-curricular and extracurricular activities:

  1. The knowledge, skills, and scholarship that are appropriate to their general and major field areas of study;
  2. Effective written and oral communication skills and information literacy using an array of media and modalities;
  3. Practical, critical, analytical, and quantitative reasoning skills;
  4. Actions reflecting ethical reasoning, civic responsibility, environmental stewardship, and respect for diversity; and
  5. Interpersonal skills and knowledge of self as a learner that contribute to effective team work, mentoring, and lifelong learning.

Graduate Institutional Student Learning Outcomes

  1. Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of appropriate theories, methods and standards specific to the field of study;
  2. Demonstrate appropriate application of the methods, skills and techniques specific to the field of study;
  3. Demonstrate the ability to engage in the process of systematic inquiry appropriate to the field of study;
  4. Demonstrate effective written communication skills in the field of study;
  5. Demonstrate effective oral communication skills in the field of study; and
  6. Demonstrate understanding of integrity and ethical practice.
